At FrameLight, we understand that every studio is different.

Different spaces. Different budgets. Different productions. Different people. And, most importantly, different ideas about what the finished image should look like.

We work on some of Australia's biggest television studios, and we're incredibly proud of that work. But we also understand that not every studio needs — or wants — to be the biggest, most complicated system imaginable.

We don't do things our way. We help you deliver your image, your way.

That philosophy sits at the heart of everything we do.

It's About the Image, Not Just the Light

Lighting a studio isn't simply a matter of putting fixtures on a ceiling and turning them on.

We understand how a camera interacts with light. We understand how people interact with light. We understand how colour, contrast, shadow, skin tone, reflections and the position of the source can completely change the way a person or a space looks on camera.

And that's where experience matters.

FrameLight has been building its own story since 2019, but the people behind the company have been working in the lighting, broadcast and production industries, some for more than 30 years.

We've watched the technology change from tungsten fixtures and dimmer racks, through fluorescent systems, and into today's highly sophisticated LED environments.

The technology has changed enormously.

The fundamentals haven't.

You still need to understand what the light is doing, why it is doing it, and what the camera is going to see.

There Is No One Perfect Light

We work with a lot of lighting manufacturers.

Some people ask us why.

The answer is pretty simple: no one has invented a light that does everything.

Not yet, anyway.

We supply fixtures ranging from a few hundred dollars through to systems worth millions of dollars. But the size of the project doesn't change the way we approach our customers.

Every customer is important to us, and every sale is genuinely appreciated. Whether we're helping someone build their first small studio or delivering a major production facility, we want to be there for the long term.

We hope that, with our knowledge, support and experience, we can help you grow your image alongside ours.

We work with leading manufacturers because we want to have the right tools available to build the right system. And when someone finally invents a light that does absolutely everything, we'll happily sell it.

From the Biggest Studios to the Smallest

We've designed some of Australia's largest television studios, incorporating automated hoisting systems, sophisticated IP-based control and lighting systems that can be monitored and controlled from virtually anywhere.

These are complex environments where reliability isn't optional.

But we've also worked on some of the smallest studios you can imagine — spaces where there's barely room for one person to stand.

And that's just as interesting.

A tiny studio still needs to produce a great image. It still needs to be practical. It still needs to be reliable. And it still needs to work for the person using it.

Good design isn't about making something bigger.

It's about making the most of what you've got.

A Studio Is a System

One of the things we've learned over the years is that supplying lighting fixtures is only one part of the job.

A successful studio is a system.

It needs lighting. Power. Data. Control. Rigging. Cable management. Access. Safety. Maintenance. And, most importantly, it needs to be easy for the people using it every day.

Because the best-designed studio in the world isn't much good if the operator hates using it.

We design systems to be practical and intuitive, with as little frustration as possible.

And when something does go wrong — because eventually, something will — we're still here.

Spare fixtures. Technical support. Repairs. Servicing. Troubleshooting.

When we deliver a fixture, we don't consider the job finished when the box is opened.

We know that studios need to keep working day after day, production after production.

There is no convenient time for a studio to fail.

And ultimately, we're judged on whether it works.

That's something we've always taken seriously.

Australian Engineering and Manufacturing

Our experience isn't limited to specifying equipment from other manufacturers.

We design and manufacture lighting systems here in Australia.

We manufacture lighting bars to Australian standards in northern New South Wales and provide automated hoisting systems designed to make those systems safe, efficient and practical to operate.

We also provide ongoing servicing to help ensure those systems remain operational and compliant.

And sometimes, the best solution is to build the product ourselves.

We recently found ourselves looking for a lighting fixture specifically designed for low-ceiling studios. We couldn't find exactly what we needed.

The reason was simple: much of the global lighting industry is focused on the big end of the market.

So we built one ourselves.

Designing and manufacturing products in Australia isn't always the easiest option, but sometimes it's the right one.

We're proud of that product, and we're excited about where it can go over the next 20 years.

It Doesn't Have to Be a TV Studio

Our experience isn't limited to broadcast television.

We work with photographic studios, film studios, corporate studios, content creation spaces and commercial environments.

Sometimes the requirement is a highly engineered production facility with lighting grids, hoists, power, data and extensive control.

Other times, it's a corporate studio inside an office where the technology needs to perform without looking like a production studio.

That's an important distinction.

You might want every cable, fixture and piece of infrastructure visible and accessible because the space is a working production environment.

Or you might want everything carefully integrated so that the technology virtually disappears into a beautifully designed corporate interior.

Both are valid.

The job is understanding what the space needs to do.

Already Have Lighting? That's Fine.

We're also happy to work with what you've already got.

If you have a collection of lighting fixtures that you like, we can incorporate them into a new system.

If you've inherited an old studio that still has good bones but needs some attention, we can help bring it back to life.

Sometimes a studio doesn't need to be ripped out and replaced.

It just needs a little TLC.

We can assess the existing system, work out what's worth keeping, upgrade what needs upgrading, and integrate new technology where it will genuinely make a difference.

Experience That Goes Beyond the Equipment

FrameLight may be a relatively young company, but our team is not new to the industry.

Our staff bring more than 20 years of experience working across studios, lighting, broadcast, film and production environments.

We've worked in studios. We've sold equipment. We've designed systems. We've worked on wiring, rigging, control systems and lighting.

We've worked alongside installers and other contractors on construction sites, and we understand what it takes to get a project from a drawing on a page to a functioning studio.

That experience matters because studio projects rarely go exactly according to plan.

There are always challenges.

The ceiling is different from the drawing. A cable needs to go somewhere unexpected. Another contractor needs access to the same space. The client changes their mind. A piece of equipment doesn't quite fit the original concept.

That's construction.

The important thing is knowing how to solve the problem and keep moving.

We understand the process. We make it happen.

And while FrameLight has only been around since 2019, the experience behind it goes back much further.
